Everybody Meet ‘noSweet’

Posted in Uncategorized with tags , , on January 31, 2011 by rubberteethmusic

Chet O’Brien-Tilbrook aka ‘noSweet’ has finally busted out in the dance music scene with his debut set last thursday at Rocket Bar’s 8 Bit Kidz. Deservedly so as I learnt much of what I know today from this guy alone.

He picked up the decks in 2007 (before everyman and his dog owned a pair of CDJ’s) and since then has progressed to become one of Adelaide’s best kept secrets….Until now..

Reppin’ the coded vinyl/traktor he is a fast growing turntablist. I find this refreshing as the dance scene is producing too many young DJ’s jumping straight into the most expensive technology they can find, reducing the need for actual mixing skills.

His song selection is probably one of his best assets, perfect for a party vibe. Name an era, he’ll play it. Mixing the likes of the 80’s and 90’s with bangers, dubstep, pop and hip hop there is something in there for everyone.

Below is a link to the main man’s latest mix ‘Ice Cream Bunny Mini-Mix’. Download, enjoy, follow and keep an eye out if your in Adelaide to see where this dude pops up next, well worth it!

The Jack Union Crew

Geht’s Noch? are back with a brand new supermix for the brand/label OMGITM! (Oh My God It’s Techno Music!). This is cool to see as majority of the mixes I’ve seen so far on the OMGITM website are electro trash. Personally love the whole concept of OMGITM! cool saying and yes….I have one of the shirts. Rep it plenty lol

(Grab the mix at the below link)

http://www.omgitm.com/supermix/

From what I’ve heard Geht’s Noch? make big, PHAT Jackin’ tunes worthy of being peak time club bangers. Huge tunes in their mix, they’ve even supported  my mate Motez’s remix for Redsquad in there!

Onto other things, Hijack & Jeff Doubleu have teamed up with a mashup. Sure..a mashup sounds like ‘eh’ but unlike the retards who put Fatman Scoop or lil John over everything I cannot wait to get my hands on this one. I’ll be reposting this as soon as its downloadble!

Yet another artist on the Jack Union Records roster, Robert Boogert. I had a quick suss of this three track EP soon to be released on Jack Union and unlike the more bangin sounds of Geht’s Noch? these tracks are a little more tame. Still just as good as it provides a nice groove and swing in each tune, thus the ‘Swingers EP’

Now Tom EQ. Although he doesn’t seem to use his soundcloud that often he has put up a preview of a new original ‘Shake’. The thing I love about Tom EQ’s tunes as well as Hijack is that they have this dark feel to each track. The way they work their vocals are always really unique as well, love it..

Anyway good to see all those jack heads pumping out the tunes still. Had abit of a quiet spot around the end of last year, hope they keep’em comin!

Bootleg Business

Yo, I’ve always liked this track a lot and wanted to do sort of a bass line edit. So the other night I sat down, stole some samples (see if you can guess where I stole them), made some wobbles and put together a bootleg. Listen/download it here..

Get Your Hump Day On!

Posted in Uncategorized with tags , , on January 23, 2011 by rubberteethmusic

The Hump Day Project! These guys have been killing it since the dawn of blogs I reckon. A DJ/Producer Duo from Sydney, I started following these two when I first discovered hypem.com in like 2008.

I saw them play a while back at Rocket’s 8 Bit Kidz and they were fantastic. Smashing party tunes, big bass and bangers their sets are dynamic, energetic and suit a lot of different tastes.

I’ll tell you one thing though, if you are into your B-more look no further. These two absolutely rinse out the B-more samples in their productions but always make it work. Their remix for ‘The Only’ was a huge tune last year suss it out below.

I also stumbled upon their artist blog the other day and downloaded just about every bootleg they have done (which is alot) lol. Well worth a look, this shit is fire on the dancefloor.

Enough for a seedy sunday post, Peace

Jack To This Guy

Posted in Uncategorized with tags , , , on January 21, 2011 by rubberteethmusic

As I have a fascination with jackin’ tech/house it seems only fare that Matt Yerman aka Oh My! be put in the spot light for my next post. A rising star in the jackin’ scene, his remixes and originals have been gaining support from the likes of Schenk, Campbell, Carbon Parlour and more..

His first ever release, a remix for Andru Pozzatron made it to number 3 in the electro house charts on DJDownload and his remix for Redsquad’s ‘Make Some Noise’ out on Baboon Tunes is a groovy little bomb!

His style is no shit, straight up jackin’ house (love it), stuff that just makes you want to bounce and get down.

The following links are downloadable.

To me, the kings of jack seem to be progressing onwards with their careers and sounds. For example Hijack, Kyle Watson, Tom EQ, Jeff Doubleu etc…But if your still into the whole glitch, groove and jack follow this lad from the US of A cause his sound is only getting better!

Adelaide From My Point Of View

Posted in Uncategorized on January 20, 2011 by rubberteethmusic

Having been in the Adelaide dance scene for just over two years now I’ve met some pretty talented people, here are some artists that I think are worth following.

Motez : My favourite Adelaide artist without a doubt with his groovy/jackin’ electro house, his productions are nothing but quality. Since his debut EP Raves are Dead early 2010 on local label Runt Records, he has somewhat blown up collaborating with Frederik Moij, remixing for Redsquad and having his own tracks remixed by the likes of nick supply and Jackinori.

His next release ‘No Need To Panic’ is soon to come out on Plasmapool Records with an amazing remix from adelaide dubstep producer Wayne Sunderland aka ‘Soul Oscillator’ . Both these artists are incredibly nice guys and quite frankly I was surprised they were from Adelaide!

Suss the release out here

Uberjakd: Now although we share a radio show and I’ve known this guy for some time now, Uberjakd is without a doubt one of the most promising talents strolling around lil old Adelaide. Gaining support from the likes of Angger Dimas, this cunt can make tunes! Holding residencies almost every night of the week it wont be long til he is touring nationally/internationally.

Here is one of his latest mixes with a ‘Re-jak’ (wtf is that?) of Afrojack’s Zeggie.

Zeggie – Uberjakd Rejak

HQ resident Steve Hart: I didn’t really become aware of Steve until I started playing at the same venue he does. After a few drunk encounters, we got talking and I found this guy knows what he is talking about! A fellow logic user (big ups) he is signed to vicious records and making some big room house tunes that’ll get yo hands in the air!

My fav tune by him is this remix he has done for Dizzee Rascal, also check  his release ‘Change’ out now!

Loot & Plunder: Two years running Adelaide’s most popular Dj’s. These guys were one of the influences that made me go ‘I wanna do that’ and start Djing. Pretty much the only thing keeping Adelaide’s Electric Circus alive in my opinion (remember its an opinion disco lovers, so don’t hate me) they are signed to Ajax’s Sweat It Out!. Amazing label recently putting out tunes like We No Speak Americano and Those Dancing Days. They have progressed alot in the last few years and are always interesting to follow so check out their stuff here.

Bollocks Deejays! Tom Ganly & Andrew Dickinson, these guys are dickheads in a good way. Holding just as many residencies as good old Uberjakd above, last year they were voted in the top 5 most popular djs in the state. The future looks bright for Bollocks as their edits destroy dance floors, once they step foot in the production scene I’m sure the world will be at their feet.

http://soundcloud.com/bollocksone/bollocks-december-2010-mix-part-2-bangers

Brad Lee: Another young gun, although he is caucasian I swear he is a black dude on the inside. If you see him he’ll no doubt be walking around baked but he can sure spin some good tunes! Similar to Bollocks, once this gangster steps foot in the production scene look out world!

Although I vomit in my mouth a little bit every time I hear the song below (I hate aussie Hip Hop), this edit Brad and fellow Adelaide resident Dylan Sanders have made set the dance floor on fire.

Capt & Cooked: Scott Kavanagh & Steve Combe.

Last year made big waves in the whole blogsphere thing with edits and remixes for Sebastian, Yolanda Be Cool, Katy Perry and Klaxons. At the moment I feel these guys are raw talent but once they build up their sound these dudes will be swingin with the likes of Haezer, Cyberpunkers, Belzebass and more!

Noazi are two Adelaide lads who are somewhat undiscovered. Unlucky for Adelaide because their music is absolute fire and filth. Recently having a release out on Hot Small Records ‘Bacchanalia’ with remixes by Rubberteeth, Venooms and Whizz Kidz.

WellSaid aka ‘Mike Wells’: Not sure how this guy has stayed under the radar all these years but he is bound for something big, his deejay skills are fantastic and he has an ear for music. At the moment we are working on some tunes together in the studio so we’ll hopefully have some original work to show for ya’ll soon.

So Adelaide is quite a talented little place if you know where to look. Although I didn’t mention everyone I wanted, I really cbf typing anymore so keep an eye on these guys for now!

First Post

Posted in Uncategorized with tags , on January 19, 2011 by rubberteethmusic

Rubberteeth finally has a blog! (Thanks to good friend chet) And what better way to begin my first post with poor grammar and shameless self promotion.

This week gave rise not only to the rubberteethmusic blog, but also my first EP out on Bone Idle Records consisting of three original tracks…

Hustler – Original Mix (Fidget)

Bumpin – Original Mix (Dutch)

Everybody In The Club – Original Mix  (Bassline)

This EP meant a great deal to me as it pretty much summed up all the practise and hard work I put into 2010 learning the ways of production. You can view the tracks here, http://soundcloud.com/rubberteeth…

Also as I hate reading shit without getting something out of it, I’m giving away this remix I did for Schenk, a fantastic artist with his single ‘Ok!’ soon to come out on Bone Idle Records. Can download the track on my soundcloud.

While the website may still need some tweaking to make it look pretty and get that stupid ‘wordpress’ out of the domain, stay tuned as I’ll be using this thing as a place to share new tunes, ideas and porn.
